Polkadot DAO proposal puts dotUSD at center of user push
A Polkadot governance proposal puts dotUSD and a new product platform at the center of a plan to attract everyday users and tie app use to DOT demand.
Polkadot Community Foundation has proposed a new strategy for the DOT DAO, putting user growth, a consumer-focused product platform and dotUSD at the heart of its plan. The DOT DAO Strategy Mandate on Polkadot’s governance site is a proposal, and its status is listed as “Deciding.” If approved, it would set the DAO’s direction, while leaving technical decisions to the Fellowship and other implementers.
The proposal says the DAO should prioritize getting people to use Polkadot over measures such as ecosystem size and locked value. It frames the goal as competing with web and mobile apps, as well as other crypto networks.
How would dotUSD support the plan?
The proposal would use dotUSD and other “dotStables”—stable-value assets backed by DOT—as a bridge between everyday spending and demand for Polkadot’s token. It says that if users rely on these assets in products, demand for them should ultimately create demand for DOT.
It gives dotUSD priority where a platform needs one main currency, while still allowing other versions. The strategy calls for one main native implementation, with DOT DAO support and professional audits. The proposal does not set the technical details or timing for that work.
DotUSD is already the subject of a separate governance proposal. That dotUSD referendum describes it as a protocol-owned asset and proposes a DOT–dotUSD trading pool on Asset Hub, with treasury funds for initial liquidity.
What would the product platform offer?
The proposed platform would bring Polkadot products and services together, with features such as data storage, user interfaces and payments. The mandate calls for apps that feel familiar to web and mobile users, including free tiers, mobile-friendly design and easy-to-read names.
It also sets goals associated with Web3: privacy, user control and access without logins. The proposal says those aims may require technical work over time.
How would user incentives work?
The DAO could support user incentives and targeted communications. Under the proposal, incentives would be distributed through on-chain rules and go to individual users, with per-person limits. It leaves the specific rules and performance measures for later work.
The plan is a strategic mandate, not an approved rollout schedule. The governance page lists it as deciding, and the proposal says implementation details remain with the Fellowship and other ecosystem groups.
